AP Research · Unit 5: The Academic Paper & Defense
5.3 The Oral Defense
What it is
AP Research ends with a Presentation and Oral Defense (PREP) — you present your study, then answer panel questions about your process and reasoning.
Preparing
Anticipate questions about your method choices, limitations, and conclusions. Be ready to justify decisions and acknowledge what you'd do differently.
Reflecting
Defense also involves reflection on your growth as a researcher — what you learned about inquiry, not just your topic. Confidence comes from knowing your own work deeply.
