1.2 Present Tense of -ER Verbs

The biggest verb group

Most French verbs end in -er (parler = to speak, aimer = to like, habiter = to live). Drop -er and add: je -e, tu -es, il/elle -e, nous -ons, vous -ez, ils/elles -ent.

Parler conjugated

parler: je parle, tu parles, il parle, nous parlons, vous parlez, ils parlent. The -e, -es, -ent endings are silent, so parle/parles/parlent sound the same.

Other groups

-ir verbs (finir): je finis, tu finis, il finit, nous finissons, vous finissez, ils finissent. -re verbs (vendre): je vends, tu vends, il vend, nous vendons, vous vendez, ils vendent.
