4.2 Future & Conditional
The future tense
The future ('I will speak') adds endings to the whole infinitive: -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án. 'Hablar' → hablaré, hablarás, hablará... 'Comeré,' 'viviré.'
The conditional
The conditional ('I would speak') adds -ía, -ías, -ía, -íamos, -íais, -ían to the infinitive: hablaría, comería, viviría. It expresses hypothetical or polite ideas.
Irregular stems
A few verbs use irregular stems for both tenses: tener → tendr-, hacer → har-, poder → podr-, decir → dir-, salir → saldr-. Endings stay the same: 'tendré,' 'haría.'
