2.2 い-Adjectives and な-Adjectives
Two adjective types
Japanese has い-adjectives (ending in い: 高い takai, おもしろい omoshiroi) and な-adjectives (ending in な when before a noun: きれいな, 元気な).
Before a noun
い-adjectives attach directly: 高い山 (takai yama, tall mountain). な-adjectives add な: きれいな花 (kirei na hana, pretty flower).
Negating them
い-adjectives drop い and add くない: 高い → 高くない (not tall). な-adjectives use じゃない / ではない: きれい → きれいじゃない (not pretty).
