4.2 The Future Tense (Futuro Semplice)

Forming the future

The futuro semplice ('will do') endings are -ò, -ai, -à, -emo, -ete, -anno. For -are/-ere, the stem is the infinitive minus final -e (with -are→-er): parlare → parlerò, prendere → prenderò.

-ire verbs

-ire verbs: dormire → dormirò, dormirai, dormirà... The endings are the same across all three conjugations.

Irregular stems

Some verbs have irregular future stems: essere → sar-, avere → avr-, fare → far-, andare → andr-, venire → verr-: 'sarò,' 'avrò,' 'andrò.'
