4.2 The Future Tense (Futur Simple)
Forming the future
The futur simple ('will do') adds endings to the infinitive: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. 'parler' → je parlerai, tu parleras, il parlera, nous parlerons...
-re verbs
For -re verbs, drop the final -e first: 'vendre' → je vendrai, tu vendras. The endings are the same as avoir's present tense (ai, as, a, ...).
Irregular stems
Some verbs use irregular future stems: être → ser-, avoir → aur-, aller → ir-, faire → fer-, venir → viendr-, pouvoir → pourr-: 'je serai,' 'j'aurai,' 'j'irai.'
