6.2 Connectors (因为…所以, 但是)

Because…therefore

因为…所以… (yīnwèi…suǒyǐ…) links cause and result: 因为下雨，所以我没去 (because it rained, therefore I didn't go). Both parts are often stated in Chinese.

But / although

但是 / 可是 (dànshì / kěshì) = but: 我想去，但是没有时间 (I want to go, but I have no time). 虽然…但是… (suīrán…dànshì…) = although…still…

And / also

和 (hé) joins nouns ('and'): 我和你 (you and I). To join clauses or add 'also,' use 也 (yě) = also: 我也去 (I'm going too). 还 (hái) = still / in addition.
